Some Boy Sewing!

Here is a cute little outfit I made my grandson, Paxton.
I used the following patterns -

I really like Jackie Clark Designs, but I would suggest making a size larger than you normally would - my grandson is wearing size 18mos and I made the overalls in 24mos and the jacket in 2T. I used brown babycord corduroy that I purchased from Sara Norris, Ltd. and the monkey print is from Martha Pullen Company.

The Cherry Dress!

Yesterday I got the bug to do some designing and this is what I came up with - The Cherry Dress! It took me several hours to draft a pattern - lots of tissue paper got thrown away and a few pieces of fabric got put into the scrap pile! I have more tweeking to do on the pattern, but I am pleased with how everything came together! In the near future I will be offering this for sale as an e-pattern, which you can download, print and use! Included with the pattern will be my digitized cherry leaves - read on about those....

The cherries are made using wooden beads and wrapping them with perle cotton #8. The leaves are free-standing digitized with a buttonhole so that the entire cherry set is buttoned onto the button for easy removal to wash the dress.
The back of the dress features lots of pleats and a center inverted pleat!

Stay tuned - more e-patterns are in the future plans at Southern Stitches!!!

Sew Beautiful Issue 121!

The latest issue of Sew Beautiful should be hitting the news stands here soon! This is the first ever Baby Issue! My good friend, Sara made this beautiful embroidered layette that is featured on the cover! Congrats to Sara for her 1st ever SB published garment and for making the cover!!!
On the inside you can see several articles of mine and my sweet grandson, Paxton modeling 2 of the garments! He
is modeling Wendy Schoen's Coat on page 53, and my Vintage T-gown Christening Gown on pages 64 and 65. Also featured in this issue are two more items by me - I have an embroidered bubble that is on page 50 and a garment bag on page 72! I hope you enjoy this issue!
